Newcastle Student Housing Guide For Students

Newcastle Student Housing Guide For Students
Students

Helping you to find your next student home

Here at Newcastle Student Housing, we’ve provided you with a guide on how to find the perfect student accommodation for you and your friends. This guide should help you to find the most suitable student accommodation in Newcastle.

Step One

Where is the best place for students to live in Newcastle?

The first step is to decide where in Newcastle you would like to live. This can cause some disagreement in a group. The most practical choice is to decide how far away from university you want to live. If you choose to live further out of town, choose somewhere that is a short walk or where you can access public transport easily.

There are a few main areas in Newcastle which could be classed as “student hotspots”. The main areas include Jesmond, Heaton and Sandyford. Jesmond is located next to the very popular Osborne Road which has plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from if you’re looking for something to do with your new housemates one night.

Step two

Choose a property

The best way to begin your search for a property is by deciding how many people you are going to live with and how many bedrooms you will need because of this.

Newcastle Student Housing also offer individual rooms if you are looking for a house share. If you are choosing to live in a house share, then you should decide how many people you feel comfortable sharing with.

The final step of choosing a property is to decide what you would like the weekly rent to be which is dependent upon how much you can afford.

Top tip: Some properties don’t always include bills so make sure you check out if each property includes bills.

Step Three

Begin your search for Newcastle student accommodation

The majority of students in Newcastle begin their search for their student property online. Newcastle Student Housing has a variety of properties in locations such as Jesmond, Heaton and Sandyford.

Step Four

Viewing student properties in Newcastle

Make a list of properties you would like to view and give one of the friendly staff at Newcastle Student Housing a call to arrange your appointment.

When viewing multiple properties, we would recommend that you make a list of pros and cons of what you like about each property so when you have finished viewing the properties you can decide which one you like best as a group.

Step Five

Secure your student property

Once you and your friends have decided which property you would like to move into, contact someone at Newcastle Student Housing and we can help you to secure your property.

After filling in an application form and putting down a deposit, some of the necessary paperwork we require you to fill in would be a guarantor form and a tenancy agreement and to pay the administration fee.

Step Six

Moving into your new student house

Once you’ve signed all the relevant documents, put down a deposit and paid your first month’s rent, you can move into your new student home.

If you’re looking for anything to do on a weekend, be sure to check out Get into Newcastle for everything that’s going on in the city.
